“We not only provide a comfortable place to stay but also try to bridge the gap
between our guests and the local area.”
tabi-tabi provides a home-away-from-home with private guest-rooms, a communal kitchen, free coffee and tea, fresh linen, organic soaps, and bicycles.
We encourage people to explore the neighborhood with our home-made maps, customized guide books, and personal recommendations.
connect with nature
Nature abounds here on the southern tip of Izu. To revitalize we recommend swimming at waterfalls, surfing the ocean’s waves, hiking though lush forests, kayaking along the rugged coast, and cycling down winding roads with the ocean breeze in your hair.
Yasu and Angela met on the slopes in February 2004 and shortly thereafter snowboarding became a way of life. The following December they started welcoming guests to their newly established Yamago Snow Club and Guesthouse in the Hakuba valley nestled in Japan’s northern alps. 3 years later, in December 2007, Lodge tabi-tabi, Hakuba replaced their original location and 3 more years after that they expanded with their first summer beach location, Guesthouse tabi-tabi in Shimoda. 3 more great winters in the mountains, each followed by an awesome summer by the sea had passed when it obviously became time to expand once again, and Retreat wabi-sabi became yet another dream in the making.
Yasu and Angela are striving to find the perfect balance between life and business as they continue to develop new ways to meld work with travel, mix business with pleasure, combine facilities with service, merge function with decore, fuse comfort with style, and intermingle guests with locals and hosts.
