The Staff

Yasu and Angela met on the ski slopes in February 2004 and since then snowboarding has become a way of life. In December 2004 they opened their first guesthouse, Yamago Club House, in the Japanese Northern Alps. In 2007 they moved onwards and upwards and started up Lodge tabi-tabi link: www.tabitabihakuba.com a guesthouse for skiers and snowboarders in Hakuba, Nagano, Japan. With a new location came a new name. Angela liked the sound of Japanese onomatopoeia like pika-pika (glitter, sparkle..), doki-doki (heart pounding from excitement), or chira-chira (describes the falling of snow and cherry blossoms), but most suggestions we criticized by Yasu for sounding a little too cute. The name they finally agreed upon was tabi-tabi. One tabi means "trip" or "travel" and two tabis is "frequent" or "often". The name tabi-tabi suggests something like "frequent traveller" or "join us often", or "a place to meet many travelers".
Yasu and Angela have road tripped all over Japan, from Northern snow-tipped peaks in Hokkaido to the rain-forests of Yakushima, but Izu is the one place they always returned to to enjoy the slow pace of ocean side living. Join us and you will see why we call this is one of our favorite places .... in the world.
